Where is your favorite place to read? Do you enjoy reading at home or do you like to read at a library or while out having coffee or tea? I’ve never read a book while at a restaurant or out having a cup of tea somewhere but sometimes I think I’d like to. I think some people do go to the library just to read but I go just to check out books. By the time I have the stack I want to bring home there’s no time left to sit and read there. I know that some bookstores allow you to sit down and read but I’ve always been a bit nervous about doing that especially if I might not buy the book. Have any of you done this before?
I think I like to read the most while I am home, stretched out across the bed on my stomach or curled up in a corner of the couch. If I am reading a particularly good book that I don’t want to put down, I have worked on supper at the same time, stirring whatever I am making while reading. That is when you know it’s a good book!
I think a good book and a cup of tea go together quite well. Someday I will enjoy a cup while I am out and about and I will do some reading at the same time. I guess as long as I’m not keeping other customers from coming in it shouldn’t be a problem! Maybe the key is to go at a slow time of day when tea rooms or coffee places are not too busy.
I read while waiting for appointments but I can’t say that I really enjoy it. I’m always interrupted or not able to focus for some reason. It isn’t a time to read a book that I am really into because I WILL have to put it down sooner than I would like unless I know that I will be waiting for a lengthy period of time.
Sometimes it’s nice to read by a lake on a warm summer day. I think as long as there’s a little breeze to keep the mosquitoes away it can be the perfect place to read. Maybe you read on the subway, a bus, a plane or even on a boat! I’ve seen people, book in hand, reading as they are walking down the street. That could be a bit hazardous! I guess no more so than the people we see walking down the street texting though.
Where do YOU like to read? Do you have a favorite place?
Right now, I don’t have a favorite place to read. I read in the bathroom (hey, I can’t work there) and I am not set up with good lighting to read in bed (but I do anyway). But last week, I decided it was too cool to go in swimming with kids at our family camp and I thought, “I am becoming our mother! But she would have a book to read while sitting here on this cool summer day.” I think I am going to find a good book and leave it in the car in case there is another day like that. Perhaps that was one of our mother’s favorite places to read. She definitely loved to read.
Well I also read in the bathroom 🙂 I love soaking in a bath with a good book.
Probably the biggest joy of my youth was a good book on a summer afternoon. Stretched out on my bed, with a gentle breeze ruffling the curtains, I would be transported to other times and places. Coming to the end, it would take me a minute to realize where I was. My family didn’t have extra money growing up. We didn’t go on vacations, but we did go to the library every week. Now days I do most of my fun reading after I’ve tucked myself into bed. Some books I read only a few pages before my eyes start to shut. Others keep me awake way beyond my bedtime. Now that’s a good read!
