Houghton Ducks Thatched, Not Hatched

On my recent trip to England I went to Houghton, a village on the banks of the Great Ouse River in Cambridgeshire. The homes are so beautiful and different from what I am used to. I especially love the houses with thatched roofs.  They look so cozy and inviting.  Someday I would like to have a closer look and also see  the inside of one of these homes.  Maybe I will find a bed and breakfast in a house with a thatched roof!

One of the houses I saw with a thatched roof was quite different.  It had a row of ducks along the very top of the roof.   These ducks were thatched, not hatched!

There is also an 18th-century watermill, Houghton Mill, in this village that is part of the National Trust. It is well worth taking the time to check it out.  https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/houghton-mill-and-waterclose-meadows
