Have you ever wanted to do something like travel to a foreign country? Your dream can become reality if you just take the first step: making the decision to do it and telling people and accept their encouragement and belief in you. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that you can and when others cheer you on it makes all the difference in the world.
I decided last year that I wanted to go to England. I didn’t really know if it was possible and I thought that it would take several years to make it a reality. I set a tentative goal of two years but my dream became reality in ten months. It helped that I already had a passport. It helped that I had a friend that lived there to give me advice. It also helped that air travel to a country overseas was nowhere near as expensive as I thought, in fact, it was actually cheaper than flying to locations here in the United States.
What made a huge difference in my quest was telling my friends and family of my decision. Their expectations encouraged me to follow through even though the idea of traveling overseas by myself was scary and a bit overwhelming. Every week someone would ask me, “So when is your trip?”
Now the question I get is, “How was your trip?” because I did do it and it was amazing. I am already planning another one! I guess one could say I discovered many things about myself on this trip but one of the most important things I have learned is that if I want something I have to take that first step.
What is on your Bucket List? Do you have a list of places you want to see and things you want to do? It’s not impossible. Far from it. It can become reality.
I think what you write here is inspiring Lizzie Jean! It’s so easy to see such adventures as beyond reach. I’d add just one thing: take one step. Then it will become easier to take the second.
Wonderful! Keep writing!
